Location test pre-season 2018 MotoGP undergo changes so claimed not to benefit Ducati. What does Andrea Dovizioso say?
Last year, MotoGP preseason tests were held at three locations namely Sepang Circuit (Malaysia), Phillip Island (Australia), and Losail (Qatar). In 2018, there is a place change.
Phillip Island Circuit is replaced with Circuit Buriram, Thailand. That’s because Thailand officially entered the racing calendar in 2018.
Switching the location of the test was not considered beneficial Ducati. The reason, Ducati was originally wanted to try out Desmosedici GP18 in Australia, the track last season made it difficult for Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo.
At Phillip Island last season, Dovizioso finished 13th, while Lorenzo was 15th. In addition, Ducati has been good in Malaysia and Qatar so the test will not be considered to give much learning.
Dovizioso rate, he did not question the location of the test later. He claimed to know what to do to be able to develop his bike.
“If you go to a track where Ducati is very difficult to test, it’s very easy, but that’s not the problem, I really understand what we need to be stronger on that track because for me what we need to get faster obviously, “Dovizioso said as reported by Crash.
“So if you can fix that, you will be faster on other tracks, because in Malaysia we are fast, but in the middle of the corner we are not as fast as competitors, the characteristics are always the same.”
“On some tracks it is not very important (for lap time), but the characteristics remain the same, between my motorcycle and the opponent,” the Italian rider confirmed.
